Circle

This is a wonderful piece because of its simplicity. My entire contribution was drawing the circle then placing the paper in front of Hattie. Hattie did everything else. Isn't it amazing how she reacts to the circle by aligning her marks to it? And the colors; she picked great ones. Does the fact that Hattie is only a year and half old suggest that all this is just the roll of the dice? Sure, not all the drawings she makes will look this good, but I'm sure she's learning from past drawings and making decisions.

  1. Simple is good. and even better if it is maintained with your almost 2 year old daughter who usually makes life anything but simple. I have no doubt in my mind these kinds of activities with foster a desire in Hattie to continue drawing long after she decides she hates you and tries to discover herself by shaving her head and joining a motorcycle gang named the flourpawts. And she will probably think it is just something she does naturally....little will she ever know the hand you had in shaping her now plastic mind!!!! beautiful stuff, and what amazing proof of why you are the luckiest man alive!!!!

  2. I see no difference in Hattie's masterpieces like this one speckled among her more common eyesores, with the Mona Lisa which I have no doubt was masterpiece speck among many of Da Vinci's eyesores. (of course my choice of Mona Lisa being Da Vinci's masterpiece is a complete pop-culturally influenced one. Who knows what he himself would have to say about the matter If he were alive, just like who knows what Hattie would say about what you consider to be her masterpiece if she were able to address the matter)

  3. Somehow these comments slipped by me until now. I wish I could find a way for Blogger to notify me when someone comments on my stuff.

I hope you're right, Curiosity. I hope Hattie joins that gang. And continues to draw.
